The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) implemented a ground stop at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago on September 18, 2026. This halt in airport operations lasted nearly two hours.

O’Hare International Airport recorded the highest number of flight cancellations worldwide on the same day due to the FAA-ordered ground stop. The interruption caused extensive flight disruptions and delays across one of the busiest hubs in the United States.
