The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) implemented a ground stop affecting flights bound for Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on Sunday afternoon due to thunderstorms. The ground stop was in place from 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time and applied to departures heading to Las Vegas from multiple air traffic control centers across the United States. Officials indicated there was a medium chance the ground stop could be extended.
Arrival Delays Under Ground Delay Program
In addition to the ground stop, the FAA issued a ground delay program for incoming flights to Harry Reid International Airport because of wind conditions. This program began
at 1:52 p.m. and is scheduled to remain active through 11:59 p.m. PDT. Arriving aircraft are experiencing average delays of approximately 72 minutes as a result of the program.
