The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) implemented a ground stop on Sunday, halting all flights destined for Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas between 2:45 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time. The ground stop affected departures from multiple air traffic control centers nationwide and was issued in response to thunderstorms and high winds in the region.
In addition to the ground stop, the FAA activated a ground delay program for arriving flights at Harry Reid International starting at 1:52 p.m., scheduled to remain active through 11:59 p.m. The agency reported that inbound flights faced average delays of approximately 72
minutes. Officials noted there was a moderate possibility the ground stop period could be extended depending on weather conditions.
