The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop at Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) on Thursday, August 20, 2026, due to severe weather. Tornado and severe thunderstorm watches are active across the DMV area, including District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.

Washington National Airport (DCA) also had a ground stop imposed by the FAA today, which has since been lifted, allowing flights to resume.
