The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) on Thursday, 20 August 2026, due to severe weather. This action is expected to cause flight delays and cancellations at the airport.
Severe weather watches, including tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings, were active for the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area. A ground stop was also issued earlier for Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) on the same day but has since been lifted.
