The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) on August 20, 2026, caused by severe weather. The FAA ground stop resulted in flight delays and cancellations at BWI.

DCA Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport also experienced a ground stop on the same day, which was later lifted. Tornado and severe thunderstorm watches were issued for the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area during this period.
