Strong thunderstorms forecast for central Nebraska and the St. Louis area pose a threat of disruptions to flights beginning Thursday, August 13. The Midwest and High Plains are under a marginal risk category for additional thunderstorms on Thursday. On Friday, widespread rain is predicted across the Central United States, affecting cities including Minneapolis, Denver, and Kansas City, where scattered showers may further impact air travel.
Saturday will see continued scattered showers across parts of the Midwest, particularly in Fargo, North Dakota, Denver, and Minneapolis. Meteorologist Becca Schuman, guest for the FAA Weather Squad, noted the “severe risk isn’t as high in the aforementioned areas, but reiterated that showers could still impact travel Friday evening.” She added that toward the end of the weekend, “many of us will be dry,” although a few scattered showers may persist with a decreasing severe weather risk.
