On May 22, 2026, numerous European countries including Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Ireland experienced significant flight disruptions. In total, 1,854 flights were delayed and 41 flights were cancelled across the continent.

These delays and cancellations impacted operations at some of the region’s largest airports, notably those in Rome, Amsterdam, and Lisbon. Several leading airlines were affected, including Lufthansa, KLM, ITA Airways, and Ryanair, contributing to widespread interruptions of schedules.

The disruptions resulted in considerable inconvenience for passengers, who faced altered travel plans and difficulties with connecting flights at these major airport hubs.
