Europe is set to introduce a new Entry/Exit System (EES) at its borders starting in 2026, a move anticipated to significantly extend processing times. This update is expected to impact up to 41 million arrivals across the continent, signaling substantial delays for visitors passing through European border controls.

Travelers from countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Australia are among those likely to experience long queues due to the implementation of this system. The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has highlighted concerns that the border hold-ups could pose a serious risk to both visitor numbers

and economic gains linked to tourism throughout Europe.
