The European Commission has authorized a new one-ticket system aimed at streamlining train travel across European Union member countries. This initiative introduces a unified booking process that allows passengers to purchase a single ticket covering journeys spanning multiple countries.
Under this system, travelers undertaking cross-border rail trips will be protected under a comprehensive set of passenger rights. These protections are designed to give passengers confidence and clarity when traveling on interconnected European rail networks.
The one-ticket system is scheduled to be implemented in 2026. It is intended to simplify travel arrangements for passengers by replacing the need to obtain separate
tickets for each country’s segment of a journey, thereby enhancing convenience and access to rail networks across the EU.
