Etihad Airways will launch a new seasonal route between Abu Dhabi and Gothenburg, Sweden, starting December 17, 2026. The service will operate four times per week and run through March 21, 2027, marking the first direct air connection between Gothenburg and Asia.

The flights will be operated using the Airbus A321LR. This aircraft model offers three cabin classes, including First Suites, Business Class seats with fully flat beds, and Economy seating equipped with 4K entertainment screens. High-speed Wi-Fi service will be available across all cabins.

The new service links Gothenburg, located on Sweden’s west coast, directly with Etihad’s hub at
Abu Dhabi airport. Through this hub, the route facilitates one-stop connections to key destinations in India and Asia including Bangkok, Singapore, Bali, Shanghai, Taipei, Bengaluru, and Colombo.

Swedavia Airports CEO Mats Johannesson called the flight the first direct connection between Gothenburg and the United Arab Emirates, emphasizing strong demand from West Sweden’s business sector and its personal travel ties to Asia and the
Middle East.
