Easyjet announced three new routes for its winter 2026 schedule, beginning service from late 2026 into early 2027. Flights between London Luton Airport and Pristina, Kosovo will restart on December 7, 2026, with three weekly departures. From November 20, 2026, Easyjet will operate two weekly flights from Bristol Airport to Strasbourg, France, as the only direct carrier on that route. Additionally, from January 4, 2027, the airline will launch a new domestic UK service running twice weekly between Belfast International Airport and Aberdeen Airport in northeast Scotland.
Strategic Route Positioning Fits Market Gaps
These new routes target specific passenger segments and regional demands. The Pristina connection
is aimed at travelers visiting friends and relatives in Kosovo, resuming service after several years’ absence. The Bristol-Strasbourg route responds to seasonal city tourism demand, filling a direct travel gap within Europe. The Belfast International to Aberdeen service addresses localized business and leisure travel needs where no direct rail or road alternatives exist, linking Northern Ireland and northeast Scotland.
Economic and Competitive Considerations
Easyjet’s expansion into these niche routes highlights market gaps in point-to-point European travel and UK regional flights. Such niche routes encounter economic risks due to demand fluctuations outside peak seasons and the absence of feeder networks. Moreover, competition among low-cost carriers
on short-haul UK routes applies downward pressure on ticket margins. The long-term viability of these services will depend largely on maintaining stable aircraft load factors during low-demand periods after the holidays.
Passenger Benefits and Package Holiday Offerings
The addition of direct flights on previously unserved or underserved routes provides more travel options for passengers across Europe and within the UK. Tickets for all three new routes are available for purchase now. Easyjet Holidays plans to offer package holiday deals linked to these flights, enhancing travel convenience for customers on these routes.
