Disney Cruise Line confirmed the fourth ship in its Wish class, named Disney Believe, will launch in late 2027. The ship’s design will include characters such as Tinker Bell, Moana, Toy Story, Frozen, The Little Mermaid, and Encanto. The bow artwork centers Tinker Bell within hand-painted filigree including Peter Pan and other characters, while the Grand Hall features a bronze statue of Moana with Pua and Heihei. The stern sculpture incorporates Toy Story’s Woody and Buzz Lightyear using oversized yellow crayons to spell the ship’s name, displayed in block lettering inspired by the Toy Story franchise. Construction started with steel
cutting on August 8, 2025, at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
New Ship Class Launching in 2029
Beyond Disney Believe, Disney Cruise Line revealed plans for three additional ships forming a new class, distinct from the Wish class, expected to enter service starting in 2029. These vessels will be sized between Disney’s smaller classic ships and the larger modern ships. The ships will offer increased operational flexibility, enabling access to more ports and destinations not suitable for larger vessels. Meyer Werft will also build these three ships.
Technical and Environmental Features
The new 2029 ship class will measure approximately 100,000 gross tons and carry about 3,000 guests, roughly
20% larger than the Disney Magic class but smaller than the Dream and Wish classes. The design incorporates industry-leading energy efficiency features including streamlined hulls, next-generation power and propulsion systems, battery systems to support the main engines, and shore power compatibility. The ships are designed to burn various fuels such as hydrotreated vegetable oil and renewable methanol, with adaptability for future fuel technologies, reflecting a focus on environmental sustainability.
Executive Vision and Fleet Expansion
Claire Weiss, Portfolio Executive Creative Director of Walt Disney Imagineering, described Disney Believe as celebrating “belief in magic, family, the power of nature, and belief in yourself.” Weiss noted the new
2029 ships will be “right in the middle of our classic ships and our newer ones,” enabling Disney Cruise Line to explore new destinations and attract audiences previously unreachable. The additions will help grow the fleet to 13 ships, expanding Disney’s presence globally with a broader range of ship sizes and advanced technologies.
