Delta Air Lines announced on September 18, 2026, the launch of three new domestic routes and increased flight frequencies from its Los Angeles International Airport hub. Starting December 19, 2026, Delta Connection will operate twice-daily service between Los Angeles and Monterey, California using Embraer E175 aircraft. The airline will also begin daily service between Salt Lake City and Monterey on the same date. On June 7, 2027, Delta will start daily mainline flights between Los Angeles and Philadelphia employing Airbus A321neos for the summer travel season.

Flight Frequency Increases from Los Angeles

Alongside the new routes, Delta will raise frequencies on several existing services from Los

Angeles International Airport. The Los Angeles-Boston route will increase to five daily flights, Raleigh-Durham to twice daily, San Diego to five times daily, Seattle to eight daily flights, Houston to three daily flights, Cincinnati to twice daily, and San Antonio to three times daily.

Aircraft and Historical Service Context

The twice-daily Los Angeles-Monterey flights will be operated by Delta Connection utilizing Embraer E175 aircraft. Delta last provided service to Monterey in 2008, according to Cirium Diio schedule data. The new daily Los Angeles-Philadelphia flights will use Airbus A321neos, marking an expansion of the airline’s mainline operations from its Los Angeles hub.

Amy Martin, Delta’s vice

president of network planning, stated that the expansion enhances customer options to explore California and strengthens the carrier’s longstanding commitment to Los Angeles and western U.S. markets. “With new service to Monterey from both Los Angeles and Salt Lake City, alongside our continued growth at LAX, we’re creating more opportunities for customers to connect to the places they want to go while building on our long-term commitment to Los Angeles and the West,” Martin said.
