Cathay Pacific and Google are expanding their collaboration on artificial intelligence trials aimed at reducing aircraft contrails. The partnership focuses on using AI technology to identify flight paths and conditions that reduce the formation of contrails, which contribute to climate warming.
Starting in September 2026, the expanded trial phase will further test and validate AI-driven measures within Cathay Pacific’s flight operations. The trials aim to develop practical approaches to minimize the climate impact of aircraft contrails through optimized flight planning.
