A consortium headed by Kiewit has been awarded a contract valued at $3.5 billion to undertake track and railway systems installation along the Central Valley portion of California’s high-speed rail project. This agreement represents a significant progression toward establishing the first legitimate high-speed rail track in the United States.
Covering the Central Valley segment, the contract encompasses installation of both track infrastructure and electrified rail systems necessary for high-speed rail operations. The project now moves beyond preliminary groundwork into active construction focused on track laying and systems integration.
