The Bohol Provincial Government is collaborating with tourism stakeholders, airlines, and Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corporation (ABAC), operator of Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA), to implement the Visit Bohol 2027 campaign aimed at boosting tourist arrivals and air connectivity.
A tourism marketing workshop was conducted on October 7, 2026, to identify target international markets and align promotional strategies among industry participants.
Target Overseas Markets and Stakeholder Roles
The workshop identified South Korea and China as core markets, with Japan and Taiwan classified as growth markets. Europe is targeted for long-staying visitors, while Australia and New Zealand are considered emerging markets. North America was singled out as a
significant source of balikbayan travelers.
Key participants included the Department of Tourism Central Visayas (DOT-7), which provided visitor arrival data, ABAC presenting a market study, the Bohol Association of Hotels, Resorts and Restaurants (BAHRR), the Bohol Association of Tour Operators (BATTO), and various transport and airline representatives to strategize on market penetration and product competitiveness.
Governor Aumentado Calls for Comprehensive Collaboration
Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado emphasized the necessity of cooperation across government, private sector, airport operators, airlines, and transport groups to sustain tourism growth in the province.
He stated, “Bohol’s tourism growth is not the responsibility of the government alone. It requires the entire
tourism ecosystem—from government and tourism establishments to the airport, airlines, transport operators and the private sector—to work toward a common direction.” The branding effort adopts the Visit Bohol 2027 campaign as the primary tourism initiative, complemented by the “Step Into Wonder” campaign tailored to various markets.
Promotional Activity and Trip.com Partnership
The provincial government committed funding support for Visit Bohol 2027, with planned incentives for charter flights pending approval. Tourism establishments were requested to submit market-ready rates, travel packages, and accommodations for promotion.
Starting October 1, 2026, BPIA partnered with online travel agency Trip.com to offer discount vouchers of P500 for domestic flights and P1,000
for international flights to and from Bohol. The promotion targets travelers planning vacations around the November 16-18 special nonworking days in Metro Manila related to the 49th ASEAN Summit.
Expected Benefits and Airport Operations
The campaign is expected to increase business opportunities across tourism-related enterprises including hotels, resorts, restaurants, retail outlets, transport operators, and attractions throughout Bohol. The initiative leverages Bohol’s distinction as the Philippines’ only UNESCO Global Geopark to enhance its destination profile.
BPIA is operated by ABAC, the infrastructure investment arm of the Aboitiz Group, which also manages Mactan-Cebu International Airport and Laguindingan International Airport, providing the airport network experience to support expanded
connectivity and tourism growth.
