Banff Rimrock Resort in Banff, Canada, completed a $115 million property-wide renovation and reopened with a grand opening on October 5, 2026. The extensive upgrade involved redesigning 320 guest rooms, revamping four dining venues, adding a hydrothermal wellness center, and expanding personalized outdoor experiences.

Accor Emblems Collection Membership

The resort became the first property in North America to join Accor’s Emblems Collection, a designation reserved exclusively for the company’s luxury five-star hotels. This membership positions the Banff Rimrock Resort within Accor’s elite luxury portfolio and underscores its commitment to upscale hospitality.

Redesign Scope and Leadership

The $115 million renovation included updates to all 320 guest rooms, featuring 57

newly designed suites that focus on emphasizing panoramic mountain views. The largest accommodation, the infinity two-bedroom suite, includes a 1,260-square-foot wraparound terrace, a barrel sauna, and a fire table. The redesign was led by California-based design firm Studio Collective and incorporates floor-to-ceiling windows and natural materials inspired by the Banff National Park surroundings.

Wellness Facilities and Dining Venues

New wellness facilities include a 9,600-square-foot bathhouse, Banff’s first luxury hydrothermal wellness experience. It offers a variety of thermal amenities including indoor vitality and hot pools, a mountain-facing infinity pool, saunas, an aromatic steam room, cold plunges, a suspended meditation room, and a sensory room. Adjacent to

this is the 3,800-square-foot Movement Center that features fitness equipment, climbing and bouldering walls, guided classes, and recovery services.

The resort now hosts four distinct dining venues: Parker’s Table, the signature restaurant offering seasonal cuisine inspired by northern Canadian landscapes; Rimrock Social, a central area for coffee, food, and cocktails; The Listening Room, a wine and spirits lounge with vinyl music; and Rimrock Market, providing specialty coffee and casual mountain-themed fare. The culinary program incorporates ingredients such as Alberta-produced honey in signature drinks and wellness tonics.

Outdoor Experiences and Meeting Spaces

The resort expanded its guest offerings through a dedicated Expeditions Centre, providing more than

50 personalized seasonal outdoor activities. These include guided hikes, forest bathing, alpine yoga, canyon ice walks, Indigenous cultural experiences, excursions to Athabasca Glacier, and northern lights wake-up calls. Rimrock Banff also increased its meeting and event capacity, offering over 18,000 square feet across 11 venues to accommodate conferences and special events.

Management Statements on Renovation Philosophy

David Garcelon, general manager of Rimrock Banff, stated, “The resort, across the decades of its history, has always been defined by its remarkable setting.” He emphasized the renovation’s guiding principle: “This transformation was guided by a simple philosophy: create a resort that feels inseparable from the landscape itself.” The

hotel’s mountainside location overlooking Banff National Park influenced design choices to enhance the connection between guests and the environment.

Traveler Benefits and Amenities

Guests at the Banff Rimrock Resort now have access to redesigned rooms and suites with large mountain-facing windows and upgraded furnishings. New wellness amenities and fitness facilities provide a comprehensive hydrothermal spa and active recreation options. Dining experiences emphasize local and seasonal ingredients across four distinct venues. The resort’s expanded outdoor activity program and meeting facilities create multiple options for relaxation, adventure, and business needs within the iconic Canadian Rockies setting.
