American Airlines resumed nonstop service from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Cap-Haïtien International Airport in Haiti on November 1, 2026. This relaunch returns American to Haitian routes after a six-year pause and marks the airline’s 100th destination in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Flight Details and Ticket Information

The Miami to Cap-Haïtien route is operated by an all-Haitian, Creole-speaking flight crew. Tickets are currently available for purchase at aa.com, with one-way fares starting at $591. The service connects Florida’s largest international airport directly to the northern coast of Haiti.

American Airlines Official Statements

José A. Freig, Vice President of International Operations for American Airlines, said, “As we celebrate American’s

centennial year, reaching a milestone 100 destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America highlights both our rich history and our unmatched footprint in the region.” He also noted American’s recent return as the first U.S. carrier to resume flights to Venezuela earlier in 2026, emphasizing the network’s ongoing expansion.

Travel and Flight Restrictions

The U.S. Department of State issued a Level 4 travel ban for Haiti in July 2026, warning against travel due to crime, kidnapping, terrorism, unrest, and limited health care services. Additionally, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration extended flight restrictions on U.S. flights landing at Port-au-Prince International Airport through March 2, 2027,

citing recent attacks on aircraft.

Regional Network Expansion and Tourism Trends

American Airlines is commemorating its centennial in 2026 and has been expanding its network in Latin America and the Caribbean. Aside from Haiti, the airline flies to Caracas (CCS), Maracaibo (MAR), and will add Barcelona (BLA), Venezuela, as a new destination starting January 15, 2027.

Florida has experienced notable increases in tourism from Latin American countries in early 2026. Data from VisitFlorida.org shows visitor growth of 10.5% from Brazil, 5.3% from Colombia, and 4.9% from Mexico during the first two quarters of the year.

Other U.S. carriers have also increased service between Florida and Latin

America. JetBlue Airways added Cali, Colombia, to its Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) routes on October 15, 2026, joining Barranquilla, Cartagena, and Medellín. JetBlue plans to launch nonstop flights to Caracas by the end of 2026.

Frontier Airlines announced intentions to start nonstop routes from Orlando, Florida, to Bogotá, Cartagena, and Medellín in Colombia in December 2026, pending government approval. Aeromexico and Delta Air Lines will begin daily nonstop service between Mexico City and Fort Lauderdale in 2027.

Specific flight frequencies and schedules for the Miami to Haiti route have not been publicly released. Fare promotions beyond the starting $591

one-way price have not been detailed.
