The Alberta government has announced a comprehensive 30-year passenger rail master plan following nearly a year of delay. This initiative outlines a long-term vision for passenger rail development within the province.
Central to the plan is the prioritization of establishing new rail links connecting downtown areas to regional airports. To support progression of this initial project, the province has allocated $15 million, marking a significant investment in advancing passenger rail infrastructure.
These new rail connections could improve transit options for passengers traveling between urban centers and airports, potentially enhancing local mobility. This project represents the first phase of Alberta’s broader
strategy to develop regional passenger rail services over the coming decades.
