INSTAT excluded previously published data on
tourist origins from its latest report due to inconsistencies detected in figures provided by government institutions. Tourism operators expect the 2026 season to close with results similar to the previous year, emphasizing that an increase in tourist numbers does not necessarily equate to higher tourism revenues.
Season Extension and Forward Bookings
Current booking trends point to an extension of the tourism season into the first ten days of October 2026. Operators also reported growth in guaranteed contracts for 2027, with increased volume and revenue expectations driven by sustained interest from Polish, Czech, and French tourist groups.
For context, in 2025, Albania welcomed 12.47 million foreign
tourists, a 6.6% rise from the preceding year. The country’s population stood at an estimated 2.4 million in 2023, per INSTAT figures.
