In August 2026, approximately 2.43 million foreign visitors entered Albania, up 2% from 2.38 million in August 2025. This represents the lowest August growth rate since the pandemic, signaling a slowdown in tourism expansion during the peak month.
Data Reporting Changes and Origin Analysis
INSTAT excluded data previously provided on tourists’ countries of origin in its latest report due to inconsistencies detected in government records. The agency did not provide further breakdowns of visitor nationalities for this period.
Tourism Operators’ Outlook and Behavioral Shifts
Tourism operators expect 2026 annual visitor numbers to align closely with 2025 totals. They also note behavioral changes among tourists, including shorter stays, increased use of private rentals and self-catering options, as well as more last-minute bookings and cautious spending patterns. The tourism season is forecast to extend through the first ten days of October 2026.
Groups from Poland, the Czech Republic, and France continue to show sustained interest for 2027 bookings, with operators reporting an increase in confirmed contracts for both visitor volume and revenue.
In 2025, Albania attracted 12.47 million foreign tourists, a 6.6% rise over the previous
year. The country’s population was estimated at 2.4 million in 2023, highlighting the significant influx of visitors compared to inhabitants.
