Alaska Airlines will begin the first nonstop flights from the US West Coast to Athens, Greece, launching seasonal service from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport three times weekly starting May 12, 2027. This new Athens route will be the airline’s longest ever, establishing a direct connection without layovers.
Simultaneously, Alaska Airlines will introduce a new nonstop service from Seattle to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, operating five times per week starting May 25, 2027, continuing through the fall. Ticket sales opened on August 20, 2026, with introductory roundtrip Main Cabin fares beginning at $999 for US purchases through August 26, 2026.
Both
European flights will be operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft configured with Alaska’s updated long-haul cabin product. Passengers traveling in International Business Class will have lie-flat Suites, enjoy multi-course meals, and receive amenities from West Coast brands Filson and Salt & Stone. Atmos Rewards members are provided complimentary high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi via T-Mobile as the airline continues to install this connectivity on Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines planes through 2027.
Flight numbers highlight the destinations’ cultural significance: AS196 honors 1896, the year of the modern Olympics held in Athens, while AS136 references the 136 museums in Paris. The expanded network enables
same-day connections between Paris and Honolulu via Seattle, linking international and Hawaii-bound travelers efficiently.
These additions are part of Alaska Airlines’ wider strategy to expand Seattle as a global gateway on the West Coast. The airline plans to establish more than a dozen international long-haul routes from Seattle in the coming years, adding at least five new international destinations by 2030 supported by increased Boeing Dreamliner deliveries.
As part of service enhancements, Alaska Airlines intends to open a new international lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and update onboard service features. The complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi offer will expand to reward program
members across the new and existing international flights.
Ben Minicucci, CEO of Alaska Airlines, said, “We fly where our guests aspire to go, and Athens and Paris have been high on that list for years. As we build to more than 12 international long-haul routes from Seattle in the coming years, we’re giving travelers more ways to connect to the world.”
