Alaska Airlines will begin operating two new nonstop transatlantic flights from Seattle, linking the city with Athens, Greece, and Paris, France, in 2027. The airline’s Seattle to Athens route will be the first nonstop connection from the West Coast to Athens and will mark Alaska Airlines’ longest route to date.
Flight Schedules and Fares
The seasonal service to Athens International Airport (ATH) will commence on May 12, 2027, with flights scheduled three times per week. Service to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) will start on May 25, 2027, operating five times weekly throughout the fall season. Tickets for both routes went on sale
on August 20, 2026, with introductory roundtrip fares in Main Cabin starting at $999 for U.S. purchases through August 26, 2026.
Aircraft and Onboard Amenities
Both routes will be operated using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft featuring Alaska Airlines’ updated long-haul cabin product. International business class passengers will have access to lie-flat Suites with multi-course meals. Additionally, the airline is incorporating amenities from West Coast brands Filson and Salt & Stone across all cabins. Members of Alaska’s Atmos Rewards program will receive complimentary high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi, provided through T-Mobile, as part of a companywide rollout expected to continue through 2027.
Flight Numbers and Network Expansion
The Athens route will operate
under flight number AS196, in tribute to the 1896 modern Olympic Games held in Athens. The Paris route uses flight number AS136, referencing the city’s 136 museums. These new services enable same-day connections between Paris and Honolulu via Seattle, linking Alaska Airlines’ expanding international network from its primary West Coast hub. The airline currently operates nonstop flights from Seattle to destinations including Iceland, London, Rome, Seoul, and Tokyo.
Company Outlook and Future Plans
Ben Minicucci, CEO of Alaska Airlines, said, “We fly where our guests aspire to go, and Athens and Paris have been high on that list for years.” He added, “As we build
to more than 12 international long-haul routes from Seattle in the coming years, we’re giving travelers more ways to connect to the world.” Alaska Airlines plans to add at least five new international destinations by 2030. The carrier is also investing in a new international lounge at Seattle and enhancements to onboard services as part of its strategy to develop Seattle into a global gateway.
