Breeze Airways has launched six nonstop flights on routes previously operated by Spirit Airlines, which ceased operations on May 2, 2026. The new services expand Breeze’s network across the US and the Caribbean.
Route Launch Dates and Destinations
From Latrobe Airport in Pennsylvania, Breeze will start nonstop flights to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on February 9, 2027, and Orlando, Florida on May 26, 2027. Myrtle Beach will also gain a nonstop flight to Boston beginning May 4, 2027. Breeze will hold exclusive service on the Latrobe-to-Myrtle Beach and Latrobe-to-Orlando routes.
At Tampa International Airport, Breeze will add nonstop flights to Montego Bay, Jamaica and Cancún,
Mexico starting December 19, 2026. Additional Tampa routes include nonstop service to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands commencing December 16, 2026, and to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic beginning June 18, 2027. These international destinations complement Breeze’s existing Caribbean network including Punta Cana, San José, and Nassau.
Buffalo Niagara International Airport will see three new nonstop Breeze Airways routes: Buffalo to Raleigh-Durham starting June 29, 2027, Buffalo to Myrtle Beach on July 1, 2027, and Buffalo to Charleston, South Carolina on July 2, 2027. The Buffalo to Raleigh-Durham nonstop flight replaces Frontier Airlines’ service, which ends this month. The Myrtle Beach
and Charleston routes will be the only Breeze services out of Buffalo.
Background on Spirit Airlines and Breeze Growth
Spirit Airlines began a wind-down after ceasing operations on May 2, 2026, following multiple financial struggles. The carrier filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy twice—in November 2024 and again in August 2025—and faced approximately $8.1 billion in debt. A failed $500 million federal rescue deal contributed to its closure.
Breeze Airways, founded by JetBlue co-founder David Neeleman, began operations in May 2021 with a flight from Tampa to Charleston. The Utah-based airline operates an Airbus A220-300 fleet and serves 95 cities throughout the US, Mexico, Central America, and the
Caribbean on over 300 year-round and seasonal routes. In early 2026, Breeze increased its flight operations by 41% compared to the previous year, earning recognition as America’s fastest-growing airline by Time100’s Most Influential Companies of 2026.
Impact on Travelers and Route Reintroductions
Travelers from Latrobe, Pennsylvania will regain nonstop options to Myrtle Beach and Orlando as Breeze reintroduces routes discontinued after Spirit’s exit. Buffalo travelers will benefit from new nonstop flights to Raleigh-Durham, Myrtle Beach, and Charleston, the latter replacing Frontier’s canceled Raleigh-Durham service. Tampa flyers will gain expanded Caribbean access with Breeze’s nonstop flights to Montego Bay, Santo Domingo, Cancún, and St. Thomas.
