Delta Air Lines announced on November 2, 2026, that it will launch nonstop service from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) in Texas to Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA) near Bentonville, Arkansas. Service will begin March 7, 2027, using an Embraer 175 regional jet operated by SkyWest Airlines under the Delta Connection brand.

Delta’s Growth Strategy in Austin[[/SECTION_HEADING]This new route further expands Delta’s rapid growth in Austin, where the airline targets becoming the leading corporate carrier. Delta has previously announced nonstop flights from Austin to Paris, San Jose, Bozeman, and Cancun. By March 2027, Delta plans to operate up to 70 daily departures from AUS, a significant increase in its Austin offerings, according to Delta’s Chief Commercial Officer Joe Esposito.Delta categorizes Austin as a high-growth focus city rather than a hub but aims to strengthen local connections. Beyond the new Bentonville flight, Delta serves Bentonville from five other US hubs: Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, and New York LaGuardia.[[SECTION_HEADING]]Route Significance: Linking Austin to the Walmart Headquarters Region

The Northwest Arkansas National Airport route links Austin directly with Bentonville, home to Walmart’s corporate headquarters. The airport also serves as a gateway for travelers accessing portions of Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas, which lie within a reasonable driving distance from XNA. This strategic service targets business travelers and enhances

connectivity between two growing economic regions.

Northwest Arkansas National Airport has seen a 28% increase in total flights over the past two years, reflecting expanding air service demand in the area, bolstering Delta’s decision to add nonstop service from Austin.

Flight Schedule and Traveler Benefits

The scheduled departure from Austin is planned just before 9 p.m. daily starting March 7, 2027, with return flights leaving Northwest Arkansas National Airport the following morning beginning March 8. The evening departure and next-morning return provide options tailored for both business and leisure travelers.

This nonstop connection will improve access for Austinites to the Walmart corporate region and surrounding

states via XNA, enhancing travel efficiency without the need for connecting flights.

Austin Airport Market and Delta’s Amenities

Southwest Airlines remains the largest carrier at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and is planning its largest schedule ever in 2027. Despite this, Delta continues to strengthen its presence and plans a second, larger Sky Club lounge at the airport in the coming years to support its growing passenger base.

Delta’s Austin-based regional sales manager Luis Guitart described the new route as part of Delta’s ongoing investment in Austin, aimed at making travel easier for local customers. Joe Esposito emphasized Delta’s ambition to become the dominant business carrier out of

Austin, stating, “We want to be the business carrier of Austin — we’re quickly moving in on the leading corporate carrier for Austin.” He also spoke to the significant growth Delta has experienced at the airport, calling it a “boom.”
