Norwegian Cruise Line has opened reservations for its latest Prima-class vessel, Norwegian Bella, with voyages departing from Barcelona, Spain, beginning in May 2028, according to India Gazette. The ship will operate seven-day round-trip itineraries within the Mediterranean region.
Ship Specifications and Fleet Position
Norwegian Bella will measure approximately 1,129 feet in length and register at 170,000 gross tons. The ship will accommodate up to 3,921 guests at double occupancy, making it one of the largest vessels in Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet alongside Norwegian Aura. Both ships are being constructed by the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, with interior designs by AD Associates, Piero Lissoni, Rockwell Group, SMC
Design, and Studio Dado.
Inaugural Season and Itinerary
During its first sailing season starting in May 2028, Norwegian Bella will visit key Mediterranean destinations including Rome, Florence, and Salerno in Italy; Marseille in France; and Palma de Mallorca in Spain. These voyages will offer a comprehensive exploration of southern European ports.
Onboard Facilities and Guest Experiences
The ship features the multi-level Ocean Heights complex spanning decks 18 through 21, designed as an open-air space that transitions from a sunlit recreational area to a social venue illuminated by dynamic lighting at night. Entertainment options for all ages include the Eclipse Racers, Bella Free Fall waterslide, The Wave raft slide, The
Drop dry slide that spans 10 decks, a ropes course, Bella Midway carnival games, a nine-hole mini golf course, and the Moon Climber adventure course.
Younger guests have dedicated zones such as Little Explorers’ Cay for ages 2-6, Adventure Alley for children 6-10, and Surf’s Bay, a teens-only retreat featuring a surf wall art installation.
Outdoor Spaces and Leisure Amenities
The Ocean Boulevard promenade encircles deck eight and includes additional seating, hot tubs, an outdoor bar, and Infinity Beach with infinity pools and a full-service outdoor bar. Norwegian Bella’s pool deck is more than 15% larger than those on Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna, boasting
an infinity hot tub and a large LED entertainment screen. Family water play facilities include the Kids’ Aqua Park splash pad and interactive water features, two family-friendly waterslides named The Party Slide and Infinity Loop, plus Horizon Park with lawn games on deck 19.
Adults can access Vibe Beach Club, an exclusive area providing infinity hot tubs, an oceanfront bar, sun loungers, and daybeds for a sophisticated relaxation experience.
Accommodations and Exclusive Guest Services
Norwegian Bella offers close to 2,000 staterooms including inside cabins, studios, and balcony rooms. The ship’s premium accommodations consist of 159 suites located within The Haven by Norwegian, a keycard-access, ship-within-a-ship
area designed by Piero Lissoni. The Haven features private elevators, a sundeck with an infinity pool, hot tubs, an outdoor sauna, a cold room, and segregated family-friendly and adults-only zones. Guests staying in The Haven have access to a private restaurant, bar, lounge, 24-hour butler and concierge services, as well as priority embarkation, disembarkation, and reservations.
Hull Art by George Rose
The ship’s hull displays original artwork by Australian contemporary artist George Rose, who used vibrant colors and organic forms to evoke the excitement of travel and discovery. Rose stated, “Designing the hull art for Norwegian Bella was an opportunity to capture the sense of
wonder that travel inspires. I’m looking forward to seeing my artwork come to life on a ship that will visit some of Europe’s most remarkable destinations, and I hope it becomes part of the memories guests create throughout their journey.”
Company Statement on Norwegian Bella
Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, described Norwegian Bella as the culmination of the company’s award-winning Prima-class fleet. He said the ship integrates the most sought-after features from earlier vessels, including expanded outdoor areas, family-friendly attractions, and enhanced venues for relaxation. Kazlauskas emphasized the design prioritizes guest freedom and flexibility, allowing passengers to customize their vacation experience without compromise.
