Delta Air Lines announced a new nonstop route between Boston Logan International Airport and Reykjavík Airport, beginning April 12, 2027. The daily service will operate through October 30, 2027, aboard a Boeing 757-200.
Delta is also launching four-times-weekly nonstop service from Boston to Venice starting May 7, 2027, operating through October 29 aboard an Airbus A330-300. Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport will gain three-times-weekly nonstop flights to Athens beginning June 8, 2027, using an Airbus A330-200, running through October 28. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport will start daily nonstop service to Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport on March 27, 2027, flown with an
Airbus A330-900neo.
Boston will be Delta’s 14th unique long-haul destination from the airport during the peak summer season and its 16th international destination there. It also becomes Delta’s third U.S. gateway to Venice. Detroit’s nonstop Athens flights mark its fourth U.S. gateway to Greece.
Delta will increase Boston to Milan service to daily frequency in 2027, offering up to 17 peak-day departures to Italy across all U.S. gateways and more than 30,000 nonstop weekly seats to Italy. Boston’s new routes further strengthen its position as the closest U.S. hub to Europe, enhancing transatlantic connectivity.
Transatlantic season extensions include early spring
and deeper fall operations out of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Seattle, New York-JFK, Boston, Detroit, and Atlanta. Early season starts include Minneapolis-St. Paul and Seattle to Rome in March and April, respectively, with earlier returns on New York-JFK flights to Catania, Porto, Prague, and Copenhagen. These additions complement Delta’s extensive partnership network with Air France, KLM, and Virgin Atlantic.
Jeff Arinder, Delta Vice President of International Network Planning, said, “By adding new European destinations from Detroit and Boston, establishing Austin as a new gateway to Europe and extending service on several popular routes, we’re giving customers more choice, greater flexibility and more
opportunities to travel when and how they want.”
Sharon Williams, Massport Executive Director of Aviation, said, “Italy continues to be an incredibly popular destination for New England travelers, and we are excited to add Venice to our growing list of international destinations. This new service provides our passengers with another opportunity to experience Italy’s incredible culture, history and tourism while strengthening the ties between our two regions. We’re grateful to Delta for continuing to invest in Boston and expand choices for our passengers.”
Chad Newton, CEO of Wayne County Airport Authority, said, “For the first time at DTW, travelers in
Southeast Michigan will have nonstop access to Athens, one of the world’s most iconic destinations. We appreciate Delta Air Lines’ continued investment in Detroit and are excited about the new opportunities this service will create for tourism, business and cultural connections.”
Delta’s nonstop service to Iceland began in June 2011 from New York JFK, the first U.S. carrier to offer scheduled nonstop flights to Reykjavík. The Boston-Reykjavík route extends this legacy and provides direct access for New England travelers. Flight frequencies and aircraft types reflect Delta’s strategic network growth.
