Tui River Cruises will expand its fleet with two new ships, Tui Zora and Tui Velara, set to enter service in 2028, each carrying 188 passengers in 94 cabins. Tui Zora will launch on the Rhine River on May 7, 2028, followed by Tui Velara debuting on the Danube River on August 14, 2028.

Expansion to the Seine River with New Itineraries

The operator will introduce Seine River cruises in 2028, deploying the 138-passenger Tui Elara to the region starting in March 2028. Tui Elara will offer four, seven, and ten-night itineraries calling at Paris, Vernon, Rouen, Le Havre, and other French ports. The vessel will join Tui

River Cruises’ fleet in 2027 specifically for this purpose.

Fleet Growth and Program Details for Summer 2028

The addition of the two new ships will increase Tui River Cruises’ summer 2028 capacity by 26% compared to previous years. The fleet will consist of 10 vessels, offering 43 itineraries visiting over 60 ports across multiple European rivers. The new itineraries will include routes on the Rhine, Moselle, Danube, and the newly added Seine River.

Ship Features and Onboard Offerings

Tui Zora and Tui Velara are designed to be compatible with alternative fuels like methanol, reflecting environmental considerations. Both ships will feature full-board-plus as standard, with an option to upgrade to all-inclusive packages that provide

access to additional bars and restaurants. The new-builds also have a shallower draught than existing vessels to improve navigation during periods of low water levels.

Katy Berzins, Head of River Cruises at Tui River Cruises, highlighted the operator’s response to increasing demand and recent challenges. She said, “Summer 2028 is our biggest launch ever and marks a major step for Tui River Cruises.” Berzins also noted the 26% capacity increase signals clear growth and added, “There’s space for all of us,” addressing concerns about market saturation among competitors. She emphasized that itinerary disruptions caused by low water levels are managed

individually, with flexibility for rerouting or cancellations when necessary.

Pricing and Booking Availability

Sales for the summer 2028 program will begin on October 15, 2026. Pricing starts at £1,749 per person for a seven-night Danube Treasures cruise on Tui Velara, which includes flights departing from London Gatwick Airport.
