Holland America Line has revised the Zaandam’s 35-day Legendary Hawaii, Tahiti & Marquesas itinerary departing from San Diego on October 15, 2026. The updated schedule cancels the October 29 call at Tabuaeran (Fanning Island), Kiribati, and adjusts arrival and departure times for several other ports.
Revised Port Schedule Includes Raiatea and Bora Bora Adjustments
The alterations affect the stops in French Polynesia, with Zaandam scheduled to call at Raiatea on November 3, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Bora Bora on November 4, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Bora Bora visit is five hours shorter than the original itinerary, which had a departure at
11 p.m. This rescheduling aims to avoid overlapping with Silversea’s Silver Whisper cruise ship at these ports, ensuring Zaandam is the sole cruise ship present. Additionally, calls at Kahului, Hawaii, on October 24 and Moorea, French Polynesia, on November 6 have been extended by two hours each.
Itinerary Adjustments Linked to Changes in Ship’s Operating Speed
HAL attributes these itinerary changes to the need to adjust Zaandam’s planned operating speed on parts of the voyage. No direct link between these adjustments and technical issues has been officially confirmed. However, the announcement follows an earlier propulsion system issue on June 3, 2026, during an Alaska cruise, which impacted the vessel’s
speed and forced cancellations of calls at Skagway and Ketchikan and an extended stay in Juneau. The subsequent June 10 voyage was delayed to carry out repairs and required itinerary revisions.
Passenger Compensation and Travel Advisory for October 15 Departure
Passengers booked on the October 15, 2026 departure of Zaandam will receive a US$100 non-refundable onboard credit valid for specialty dining, spa services, retail purchases, and shore excursions. Travelers are advised to review the updated itinerary, given the cancelled port call, altered port times, and rearranged schedule.
The Zaandam remains slated to complete the 35-day Pacific cruise, returning to San Diego after visiting multiple destinations in Hawaii and French
Polynesia.
