Southwest Airlines announced it will add new direct flights from Pittsburgh International Airport starting June 5, 2027. These new routes will begin operation in summer 2027, according to a press release from Pittsburgh International Airport officials.
Southwest Airlines Launches New Destinations from Pittsburgh
New nonstop service will connect Pittsburgh to Panama City, Florida; Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic; and Savannah, Georgia. These additional connections will increase Southwest’s total nonstop routes out of Pittsburgh International to 25, the highest number offered by any airline at the airport.
Route Frequency Increases on Key Destinations
Southwest will increase flight frequency on several existing routes. The Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Florida service will expand from Saturdays only
to daily departures in summer 2027. Flights to Cancun, Mexico will rise to about two flights per week. Daily service will also increase, with Tampa flights boosted to four per day and Las Vegas flights doubled to two per day.
Southwest Airlines accounts for 26% of passenger traffic at Pittsburgh International Airport, making it the airport’s leading carrier. American Airlines holds the second-largest share, transporting 23% of travelers through Pittsburgh.
