Hotel Indigo Raleigh has reopened in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, following a $36 million renovation of the building at 320 Hillsborough Street. The 204-room boutique hotel occupies a distinctive round tower designated a historic landmark in 2015, originally constructed in 1969.

Historic Architecture and Design Preservation

The renovation preserved the building’s iconic curved footprint, a key part of Raleigh’s skyline for over five decades. New interiors designed by New York City-based architecture and design firm Inc. incorporate sculptural forms, geometric patterns, bold colors, and polished chrome accents. Warm oak finishes reference Raleigh’s nickname, the “City of Oaks,” while natural cork elements and locally commissioned North

Carolina artwork curated by nineDOTarts connect the design to regional culture.

New Hotel Features and Community Spaces

Hotel Indigo Raleigh features 204 guest rooms with mid-century-modern styling inspired by the building’s architecture. The lobby was transformed into an expansive, light-filled community lounge anchored by a vintage Airstream courtyard coffee bar, linking the arrival and check-in areas to create a social hub. Flexible meeting and event spaces were reimagined to serve corporate gatherings and celebrations. A 1,500 square foot fitness center offers state-of-the-art TechnoGym equipment.

High Ground Lounge Rooftop Bar and Restaurant

Located on the 20th floor, High Ground Lounge is a new rooftop bar and restaurant providing panoramic views of the Raleigh city

skyline. The venue serves Southern cuisine inspired by local flavors alongside a craft cocktail program. It offers space for social gatherings, private events, and nightly entertainment, welcoming both hotel guests and the public.

Ownership, Management, and Official Statements

The property is owned by Tidal Real Estate Partners, who acquired it in 2021, and is managed by Denver-based Sage Hospitality Group, an award-winning company with over 40 years of experience. Carlos Faz, General Manager of Hotel Indigo Raleigh, said, “This building has been part of Raleigh’s story for generations, and we’re incredibly proud to welcome guests and our neighbors back through its doors.” Daniel del Olmo,

president and CEO of Sage Hospitality Group, stated, “Hotel Indigo Raleigh represents a meaningful investment in one of downtown Raleigh’s most recognizable landmarks and in its future as a place that brings people together.”

IHG Portfolio Expansion in North Carolina

Hotel Indigo Raleigh is the first IHG Hotels & Resorts property in downtown Raleigh, joining IHG’s North Carolina portfolio alongside locations in Asheville and Winston-Salem. This reopening enhances Raleigh’s urban hospitality market by revitalizing a historic landmark with modern amenities and locally inspired design. Reservations are available at www.indigoraleigh.com.
