Getaria Town Council has approved a Fiscal Ordinance establishing a tourist stay tax to take effect on January 1, 2027. The ordinance passed with six votes in favor from EH Bildu council members and five abstentions from EAJ representatives, according to diarioeuskadi.eus.
The tax will require visitors staying in local accommodations to pay a tourist fee. Authorities will notify accommodation providers about the new levy, which aims to finance tourism-related infrastructure improvements on the Basque coast.
