Getaria Town Council in the Basque Country approved a Fiscal Ordinance establishing a new tourist stay tax. The ordinance passed with 6 votes in favor from EH Bildu and 5 abstentions from EAJ.
The tax will be implemented starting January 1, 2027. Accommodation providers in Getaria will be notified about the new tax measures ahead of the effective date.
Visitors staying in Getaria accommodations will be subject to the tourist tax beginning in 2027. The tax aims to generate revenue to support local tourism infrastructure and manage the impact of visitors in the town.
