Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC has acquired a portfolio of 16 Marriott International-operated hotels in Japan for approximately ¥125 billion, equivalent to about $800 million, according to citybiz. The properties operate under Marriott’s Four Points Flex by Sheraton brand and were previously owned by funds managed by KKR & Co. Inc.

Marriott International will continue managing the hotels under the existing brand following the transaction. The purchase price translates to an average value of roughly ¥7.8 billion per hotel. KKR completed the sale last week ahead of the 30 September 2026 deadline as part of its exit strategy from these

assets.

This acquisition adds a substantial hospitality portfolio to GIC’s global property investments and represents a major institutional real estate transaction in Japan. The deal supports GIC’s growing presence in the Japanese hotel sector and reflects active repositioning by KKR in its managed funds.
