Nobu has announced the launch of Nobu Hotel and Restaurant San Juan, its inaugural venture in Puerto Rico, with the property slated to open in 2028. This marks Nobu’s entry into the Caribbean region with its signature hospitality experience.
The hotel will offer 50 luxury rooms, complemented by a signature Nobu restaurant and bar located at street level. A rooftop lounge and bar will also be featured as part of the design. The development aims to merge Nobu’s contemporary aesthetic and understated luxury with San Juan’s rich character and historic heritage.
San Juan’s Cultural Appeal and Nobu’s Strategic Expansion
San Juan is renowned across the Caribbean for its
historic neighborhoods, distinctive architecture, vibrant culture, and a celebrated waterfront. Nobu’s decision to invest in San Juan is driven by the city’s combination of culture, history, and energy, appealing to discerning travelers worldwide seeking authentic and refined experiences.
Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality, highlighted Puerto Rico’s draw, describing it as “one of the Caribbean’s most compelling destinations, celebrated for its rich history, vibrant culture, and exceptional hospitality.” He emphasized that the location allows Nobu to become part of a storied neighborhood while extending its signature hospitality to a discerning global audience.
Joakim Lehmkuhl, Managing Partner of KTT, a key
partner in the project, noted, “Few places in the Caribbean combine culture, history, and energy the way San Juan does.” He added, “Nobu saw the same thing, and that shared understanding is what makes this work,” asserting that the investment aligns with what the city deserves and enhances San Juan’s standing as a distinguished Caribbean destination.
Guest Experience and Cultural Connection
The Nobu Hotel and Restaurant San Juan intends to blend the historic vitality of the old city with Nobu’s calm and refined atmosphere. Guest accommodations will be thoughtfully designed with intuitive service inspired by the Japanese spirit of omotenashi.
