Princess Cruises launched an AI-powered native app within ChatGPT on September 28, 2026, becoming the first global cruise line to integrate large language model (LLM) technology into cruise planning. The app connects users to more than 330 cruise destinations across the fleet’s 17 ships, including the newest vessel Star Princess launched in October 2025, allowing travelers to check pricing, availability, and book cruises directly through ChatGPT.

Cruise Planning with Conversational AI

Users of the Princess Cruises app can interact using natural language to explore and refine cruise options in a single conversation. The app supports follow-up questions about itinerary details, such as cruises visiting Glacier

Bay National Park, maiden calls to Mossel Bay in South Africa, departures from Seattle, or comparisons between different voyages like Alaska and Mediterranean cruises. This streamlined interaction taps into Princess Cruises’ booking system and trusted real-time data to simplify the planning process for travelers.

Corporate Collaboration and Industry Context

Princess Cruises is a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation, the largest cruise company worldwide, operating in over 800 ports and destinations. Neena Vicente, Vice President of Digital Commerce and Experience at Princess Cruises, stated the launch places Princess at the forefront of agentic commerce by using generative AI to help guests evaluate choices and plan increasingly complex

trips.

Mobi CEO Andrew Boch praised Princess Cruises’ proactive approach to AI integration and said the foundation they are creating will give them an advantage as AI-driven travel channels expand. Rosemary DeAragon, Head of Technology & Consumer Industries at OpenAI, highlighted ChatGPT’s role in facilitating travel plans from discovery to booking through cooperation with cruise brands.

Travel Discovery Trends and Expansion Plans

The Princess Cruises app reflects a broader shift in consumer behavior toward generative AI for travel decision-making and aims to enhance cruise discovery and booking with conversational interfaces. The app is initially available exclusively on ChatGPT with plans for expansion to other AI platforms

subject to availability and technical requirements.

Princess Cruises Fleet and Destinations

The cruise line offers itineraries to the Caribbean, Alaska, Panama Canal, Mexican Riviera, Europe, South America, Australia/New Zealand, the South Pacific, Hawaii, Asia, Canada/New England, and Antarctica. Star Princess is the newest ship and sister to Sun Princess, which was named Condé Nast Traveler Mega Ship of the Year for two consecutive years.
