On September 28, 2026, Princess Cruises became the first global cruise line to introduce a native cruise planning app integrated within ChatGPT. This new app connects users to trusted, real-time cruise information and booking services directly within the AI platform, marking an innovative step in cruise discovery and customer interaction.
Over 330 Destinations and 17 Ships Available for Planning
The app allows guests to explore more than 330 cruise destinations served by Princess Cruises’ fleet of 17 ships. Travelers can inquire about routes, check pricing and availability, and customize cruise plans using natural language within ChatGPT. For instance, guests interested in Alaska cruises can ask about itineraries visiting Glacier
Bay National Park or departures from ports such as Seattle without leaving the conversation thread.
Shift Towards AI in Travel Discovery and Official Statements
Princess Cruises highlighted the growing role of generative AI in travel planning. Neena Vicente, Vice President of Digital Commerce and Experience at Princess Cruises, said the launch places the company “at the forefront of agentic commerce in the cruising industry, creating a new entry point into cruise discovery that inspires guests to find the vacation that is right for them.” Andrew Boch, CEO of Mobi, praised Princess for being forward-thinking about AI’s impact on traveler engagement, stating the app “will give them a real advantage
as these new channels become an increasingly important part of travel.” Rosemary DeAragon, Head of Technology & Consumer Industries at OpenAI, emphasized that the app demonstrates how AI platforms and travel brands can collaborate to make planning “more seamless, useful and conversational.”
Princess Cruises’ Brand, Fleet, and Corporate Ownership
Princess Cruises, recognized as the world’s most iconic cruise brand and part of Carnival Corporation, offers guest experiences on large ships known for personalized service comparable to yacht-class vessels. Their fleet includes the Star Princess, launched in October 2025, and the Sun Princess, which earned Condé Nast Traveler’s Mega Ship of the Year award for two consecutive years.
The company operates cruises to diverse regions including the Caribbean, Alaska, Panama Canal, Mexican Riviera, Europe, South America, Australia/New Zealand, South Pacific, Hawaii, Asia, Canada/New England, Antarctica, and worldwide itineraries.
App Availability and AI Partnership
The Princess Cruises app is currently exclusive to ChatGPT with plans to expand to other AI platforms as technology permits. It harnesses large language model technology to improve trip discovery and booking efficiency. The initiative relies on OpenAI’s ChatGPT to link customers seamlessly to Princess Cruises’ official data and services, streamlining cruise itinerary planning within a conversational AI environment.
