This measure suspended departures originating from multiple air traffic control centers across the United States during this two-hour window. The FAA noted there was a medium chance the ground stop could be extended beyond the scheduled timeframe.
Impact on Flight Operations
In addition to the ground stop, the FAA activated a ground delay program for incoming flights to Harry Reid International Airport starting at 1:52 p.m., continuing through 11:59 p.m.
PDT. This program was established because of high wind conditions. Arriving flights faced average delays of approximately 72 minutes under the ground delay restrictions. The FAA coordinated with several regional air traffic control centers nationwide to manage and implement these operational constraints to ensure safety during adverse weather conditions.
