Prior to the ground stop, the FAA initiated a ground delay program at Harry Reid International Airport starting at 1:52 p.m. PDT, scheduled to last through 11:59 p.m. Sunday. The measure
was put in place due to high winds associated with the thunderstorms. Arrival flights into the airport experienced average delays of approximately 72 minutes. The FAA noted there was a medium likelihood the ground stop could be extended beyond the 4:15 p.m. ending time.
