Princess Cruises on September 28, 2026, launched a native AI-powered cruise planning application integrated within ChatGPT, becoming the first global cruise line to offer this functionality through large language models. The new app connects travelers to Princess Cruises’ website information and booking system directly via the ChatGPT platform.

App Features Enable Conversational Cruise Planning

The app lets users plan, explore, and book cruises using everyday conversational language within ChatGPT. To access it, travelers tag @princesscruises and install the Princess app plugin inside ChatGPT. This setup allows users to inquire about cruise options, pricing, availability, and refine their itinerary preferences within a single conversation interface, streamlining the

cruise selection and booking process.

Extensive Destination and Fleet Coverage

The app includes information on more than 330 cruise destinations served by Princess Cruises’ 17 ships. Guests can compare itineraries and request detailed specifics such as cruises visiting Alaska’s Glacier Bay National Park or departures from Seattle. The fleet comprises vessels including the Star Princess, which debuted in October 2025, and the Sun Princess, recognized by Condé Nast Traveler as Mega Ship of the Year twice consecutively.

Executive Insights on AI Integration

Neena Vicente, Vice President of Digital Commerce and Experience at Princess Cruises, stated the app launch places the company at the forefront of agentic commerce in cruising and

defines a new entry point for cruise discovery. Mobi CEO Andrew Boch praised Princess Cruises for being forward-thinking in using AI to reshape travel brand engagement, expressing confidence that this foundation offers a competitive edge as AI channels expand. Rosemary DeAragon, Head of Technology & Consumer Industries at OpenAI, highlighted that the app demonstrates how AI platforms and travel brands can collaborate to make planning more seamless and conversational.

Context of Change in Travel Planning

Princess Cruises developed this app in response to a growing trend of travelers employing generative AI for evaluating travel choices and planning complex trips. The integration of AI aims to simplify

and personalize the cruise planning experience, reflecting evolving consumer behaviors in trip discovery and booking.

Geographical Reach and Ship Details

The app encompasses cruise itineraries across diverse regions including Alaska, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Mexican Riviera, Europe, South America, Australia/New Zealand, South Pacific, Hawaii, Asia, Canada/New England, and Antarctica. Princess Cruises describes itself as The Love Boat, with a globally recognized brand and a fleet that also offers Princess MedallionClass service for personalized guest experiences. The company is part of Carnival Corporation, the world’s largest cruise operator.

Future Platform Expansion Plans

The app’s initial availability is exclusive to the ChatGPT platform, with Princess Cruises planning expansion to other AI platforms

in future depending on technical feasibility and platform offerings. Princess Cruises is not affiliated with OpenAI, and ChatGPT remains a trademark of OpenAI, Inc.
