More than 100,000 homes and businesses lost power at peak, with over 73,000 outages remaining across Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania at 9:37 p.m. ET. Both New York and Connecticut had over 20,000 active outages each, with four states combined having more than 100,000 outages earlier in the day.
Flooding and Event Postponements Across the Region
The storm caused flooding from Bergen County, New Jersey, in the
north down to Cape May County in the south, with voluntary evacuations ordered in some Jersey Shore communities. MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford postponed an AC/DC concert originally scheduled for September 25 to October 2, 2026. Travel and local activities were disrupted by the storm’s widespread impact.
Emergency Declarations and Weather Warnings
The governors of New York and New Jersey declared states of emergency on Friday, September 25, for counties expected to be hardest hit, including New York City. Connecticut’s governor also activated the state’s Emergency Operations Center that day. The US National Weather Service warned the Nor’easter would continue causing coastal flooding, rip currents,
strong wind gusts, and heavy rain in the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions through Monday.
