Storm Conditions Bring Severe Weather to the Northeast
The nor’easter caused heavy rainfall, rough surf, and raised the risk of coastal flooding in the affected regions. The National Weather Service forecasted dangerous flooding along parts of the Mid-Atlantic coast from Friday into Saturday, particularly near New Jersey and Delaware. Wind gusts were projected to reach 60 to 65 mph on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard,
and Nantucket on Friday night and Saturday, with gusts of 50 to 55 mph expected near Boston and 35 to 40 mph farther inland.

Brian Hurley, senior national forecaster at the Weather Prediction Center, identified the areas expected to see the heaviest rain as coastal Jersey, Long Island, Rhode Island, and eastern Massachusetts. He also predicted the storm would weaken by late Saturday. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) advised residents to monitor local forecasts and warnings, prepare three days’ worth of food, water, and supplies, develop communication plans, and avoid driving into floodwaters or traveling on roads when
authorities recommend staying off them.
