Royal Caribbean has agreed to acquire a 50% equity stake in Sandals Resorts for $3 billion, valuing the Caribbean resort operator at $6 billion, the companies announced on September 22, 2026. The transaction is projected to finalize early in 2027.

Royal Caribbean has been expanding its offerings beyond cruises to become a broader vacation provider. The cruise line operates several private destinations and has been working to grow its land-based vacation portfolio. Sandals Resorts and its Beaches brand operate more than a dozen all-inclusive properties across the Caribbean, complementing Royal Caribbean’s footprint in the region.

The deal closure is expected

in early 2027. Royal Caribbean’s stock has declined approximately 25% in the past year, linked to reduced demand for European cruise sailings and resulting lowered revenue growth forecasts.

Previous reports from CNBC and the Financial Times indicated the two companies were engaged in acquisition talks. The agreement is anticipated to foster growth opportunities for both Royal Caribbean and Sandals Resorts across Caribbean vacation markets.
