Syrian Airlines will commence direct flights to Copenhagen, Denmark, on September 21, 2026, followed by new services to Vienna, Austria, beginning September 22, 2026. These routes expand the national carrier’s European destinations to three, including its existing Amsterdam connection in the Netherlands.
Launching the new international flights involved completing a series of regulatory and operational steps. The airline secured necessary approvals and coordinated with aviation authorities and the airports involved—Copenhagen Airport and Vienna Airport. Additionally, technical, commercial, and ground handling arrangements were finalized to support ongoing operations on these routes.

Aviation and Air Transport, indicated these flights are integral to the strategic development of Syrian Airlines’ network. The addition of Copenhagen and Vienna aims to strengthen direct air links between Syria and Europe, providing more travel options for passengers, particularly Syrians residing in Europe. Al Hosari noted that these direct connections reduce travel time and costs by minimizing dependence on connecting flights.
Syrian Airlines continues to work on adding more European and regional destinations, with further announcements planned after fulfilling regulatory and operational requirements for each route. The expansion aligns with regional aviation developments such as Syria reopening Deir Ezzor
airport after 14 years, flydubai resuming daily flights to Aleppo, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi and Air Arabia launching Aleppo services, and Etihad Airways beginning flights from Abu Dhabi to Damascus.
