A 56-year-old male passenger jumped overboard from the Carnival Panorama cruise ship late Friday night, September 18, while traveling from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, to Long Beach, California, according to Carnival Cruise Line. The incident occurred on the last day of a seven-night cruise sailing the Mexican Riviera.

After the passenger was reported missing, the Carnival Panorama’s crew initiated search and investigation procedures. These included reviewing closed-circuit television footage which confirmed the passenger jumped overboard. Passenger Michael Bedwell described crew members announcing to guests: “OK everyone back to your rooms.” He said passengers were initially unaware of the situation, learning only later that the missing person had jumped overboard.
