Jaipur is preparing for the launch of more than 40 large hotel properties in and around the city as part of a major expansion cycle involving both global and domestic hotel chains. According to Surendra Singh Shahpura, president of the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR), most of these developments will be operational within five years, with at least five properties opening within the next year.
Expansion Along Jaipur-Delhi Highway Hospitality Corridor
About 20 of the forthcoming hotels are planned along the Jaipur-Delhi highway, a corridor favored for its connectivity and availability of large land parcels suitable for hospitality projects. This region is rapidly
emerging as a significant hospitality hub catering to increasing demand for wedding and event venues.
Investment Size and Employment Impact
Each major hotel project involves investments exceeding Rs 300 crore. Ranvijay Singh, a leading member of the FHTR, said these developments will create thousands of job opportunities, highlighting the scale of capital being committed to the hospitality sector in Jaipur.
Wedding and Event Infrastructure Driving Growth
The surge in hotel construction is tied to Jaipur’s growing destination wedding market, with properties designed to include banquet halls, expansive lawns, and event infrastructure to accommodate large weddings, which generate higher revenues than regular business travel.
Statewide Hotel Development Trends
Similar hotel development activity is reported in Pushkar,
Udaipur, and Jodhpur, according to Ranvijay Singh, reflecting a statewide hospitality expansion trend. This growth aligns with Rajasthan’s increasing appeal as a premier destination for luxury hospitality and events.
Future Hotel Projects and Land Auctions
RIICO is currently auctioning seven large plots that could host additional hotel developments, potentially raising the number of new hotel projects beyond the 40 currently planned, further advancing Jaipur’s hospitality sector.
