The Albanese government will reduce the annual quota for working holiday visas by nearly 40,000 as part of efforts to lower immigration arrivals to Australia.

Industry Reactions to Visa Cuts

Tourism operators and primary producers have expressed strong opposition to the visa reductions, warning that cutting working holiday visa numbers will harm their sectors.

Mainstream business groups, along with mining and construction industries, have welcomed the government’s focus on prioritizing skilled migration. These groups have also urged the government to accelerate the processing of visa applications for skilled workers applying from outside Australia.
