Northern Railway has announced operational changes affecting more than 120 trains in the Delhi Division from September 11 through September 13, 2026. The disruptions involve cancellations, reroutes, rescheduling, late starts, and short terminations impacting passenger rail services across the National Capital Region.

Affected Routes and Operational Adjustments

Delhi-area stations including New Delhi, Old Delhi (Delhi Jn), Ghaziabad, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi Shahdara, Palwal, and Shakurbasti will see significant train schedule alterations. These include partial or full cancellation of daily local EMU and MEMU commuter trains on routes linking Ghaziabad, Palwal, and central Delhi hubs. Premium long-distance passenger trains are also rerouted to alternative corridors to accommodate

operational requirements.

Security Measures for BRICS Summit Drive Changes

The Northern Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, confirmed that these operational modifications are imperative to facilitate security arrangements for the upcoming BRICS Summit in Delhi. The changes allow Northern Railway to manage rail traffic more effectively while attempting to reduce prolonged passenger inconvenience during the summit period.

Passenger Advisory for Train Status Checks

Passengers traveling through the Delhi Division are advised to verify live train running status prior to travel. Information can be obtained through official railway helplines, the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) mobile application, or the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website. These platforms provide up-to-date notifications

on cancellations, reroutes, and revised schedules effective through September 13, 2026.

Context of Operational Impact Due to International Summit

These disruptions are part of broader security and operational measures coinciding with a major international event requiring heightened control within the National Capital Region. The scale of rerouting and cancellations underscores the extensive logistical preparations undertaken by Northern Railway to accommodate summit protocols.
