Cancellation of Local EMU and MEMU Services in the National Capital Region
Extensive cancellations and short-terminations have affected Electric Multiple Units (EMU) and Mainline Electric Multiple Units (MEMU) between Ghaziabad, Palwal, Shakurbasti, New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Delhi Shahdara. Notably, EMU trains numbered 64429, 64433 running Ghaziabad–New Delhi are cancelled on September 11 and 12, with linked services operating only from Ghaziabad as short-originations. EMUs 64492 (New Delhi–Palwal Ladies’ EMU) and its JCO linked train 64491
are cancelled on September 11 and 12. Similarly, trains 64013 and 64015 between Palwal and Shakurbasti remain cancelled due to RLDA work at Faridabad. Additional cancellations include MEMU 64418 between Delhi Junction and Ghaziabad on September 12, and EMU 64439 (Ghaziabad–Delhi Junction) on September 13. These cancellations directly affect suburban commuters within the National Capital Region.
Rerouting of Rajdhani and Other Express Trains via Delhi Junction and Sahibabad
Rajdhani Express trains connecting New Delhi to Ranchi (20840), Dibrugarh (12424), Sealdah (12314), Howrah (12306), and Bhubaneswar (22812) have been rerouted via Old Delhi (Delhi Junction) and Sahibabad between September 10 and 11. Other long-distance trains such as the Sampoorna Kranti Express (12394), Gomti
Express (12420), Shramjeevi Express (12392), Kurukshetra–Khajuraho Express (11842), and Banaras–New Delhi Superfast Express (12581) have also been diverted via Sahibabad, Delhi Shahdara, and Delhi Junction. EMU and passenger services like Ghaziabad–Mathura Jn. (64904), Rewari–Meerut Cantt. Passenger (54411), and Saharanpur–Delhi Jn. Passenger (54474) have similarly adopted alternative routes involving Sahibabad and Delhi Junction.
Train Delay Regulations Imposed on Multiple Services Between September 10 and 13
Delays ranging from 10 to 40 minutes have been officially regulated on numerous trains due to the operational changes. The Thiruvananthapuram–New Delhi Kerala Superfast Express (12625) faces a 40-minute delay over the National Capital Region and an additional 20 minutes over the Palwal section as of September 10.
Pune–Jammu Tawi Express (11077) and Bengaluru–New Delhi Karnataka Express (12627) are also delayed by 40 minutes in the NCR and 20 minutes near Palwal on September 11. Other regulated trains include Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Chennai Express (16032) with 15 minutes delay at New Delhi, and Banaras–New Delhi Vande Bharat (22415) facing a 35-minute delay over NCR on September 12. Northern Railway officials confirm these disruptions are required due to pressing operational reasons associated with security arrangements for the
BRICS Summit taking place in Delhi. Route diversions, cancellations, and timing regulations are aimed at managing increased security and essential traffic flow amid the summit. The Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, stated that the modifications are strictly necessary for efficient traffic management while attempting to limit long-term inconvenience to passengers.
